MaxterMedia is an E-Rate Service Provider. E-Rate is the commonly used name for the Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund. The program provides discounts to assist schools and libraries in the United States to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet Access. Discounts for support range from 20% to 90% of the costs of eligible services. Your total E-Rate discount will be based on your Free and Reduced Lunch Program as determined by USAC.

A web hosting service that provides a means for a school or library to maintain a website on the Internet is eligible. This will include storage, access, and website administration tools for the creation and maintenance of the website. In addition, web hosting may include password-protected pages, interactive communication features such as blogging and webmail, and other features that facilitate real-time interactive communication, such as instant messaging and chat. Domain name registration is also eligible if it is necessary for the creation of a school or library website.

Under the Internet Access Category on the E-Rate website, Web Hosting is listed as an eligible service. If you are filing for an E-Rate discount you will need to fill out a Form 471 and list Web Hosting Services on the Form.

Schools choosing to apply for E-rate funding for website hosting must select a service provider after conducting a fair and open competitive bidding process, in compliance with state and local procurement guidelines and federal regulations.  To learn more about the E-rate program, the application process, and the rules and regulations, please visit USAC.
